On 9/14/24, members of AYLUS Syosset cooperated with members of AYLUS Great Neck at the Planting Fields Arboretum to mulch and weed a wide area of the Arboretum. Since most of the invasive ivy known as English Ivy had been eradicated, the Arboretum was able to plant a vast number of new shrubs. Now that the shrubs had been planted, all that was left was to mulch the remaining parts of the Arboretum. The mulch would suppress any weed left remaining, retain moisture, and improve the atmosphere of the Arboretum overall. Members from both branches broke off into two groups, utilizing a variety of tools such as pitchforks, rakes, wheelbarrows, and shovels, in order to mulch the upper and lower sections of the garden.
Members that participated include (All 2.5 hours): Anson Ye, Vincent Ye, Ryan Lin, Kingston Lu, Geyan Lou, Michael Qiao, Madison Lee, Ethan Lee, and Audrey Lin.
