AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch Donates Books to Taiwan (09/07/2024)

This is the 122th event hosted by AYLUS Oakland Gardens. On Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12:30 to 1:30, AYLUS Oakland Gardens members gathered books from our members to donate to Books for Taiwan.

Books for Taiwan is a non-profit organization that strives to help Taiwan by donating books to them. These books will go to schools to learn English. The books are simple, as most of the people reading these books know little to no English and need a place to start. Some books will also go to prisons to help prisoners learn so they have a higher chance of getting a job when they are released.

AYLUS Oakland Gardens took the books donated from their members. Once we had the books, our members counted them out. We sorted the donatable books from the non-donatable ones. There were a lot of books to count and sort as our members were eager to help Taiwan. Once we counted the books, we sorted them into boxes and put numbers on them depending on how many books were in the boxes. Once we sorted and counted everything, Richard Wu from Books for Taiwan came from New Jersey to pick up the books to donate.

We would like to thank our members for donating books to make this possible. Without these donations, we could not help Taiwan by giving them books.
