Murrieta AYLUS Lends a Hand to The Little Garden of Hope Project (34th) (8/24/2024)

Reported by Hsin Chen (Julie) Lu

On August 24th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS helped with the Little Garden of Hope Project at Jacob’s House. The members got there early to beat the summer heat. Having the sprinkler system working properly now meant that all the vegetables were growing well, but so were the weeds. The members worked to pry the weeds and their roots from the beds, careful to not damage the vegetables. They slowly worked their way through the 7 beds, some taking longer than others due to their larger size. Once they were done, the members split up, some harvesting ripe vegetables and others manually watering the beds. When they finished, the members cleaned up and headed to the residential house to drop off their harvested goods. While washing the vegetables, the members chatted with the residents. After placing the produce in the fridge, the members waved goodbye and left.
