On the morning of August 5, 2024, volunteers arrived at Memorial Presbyterian Church to teach a bucket drumming class for the Adult Day Program organized by Easter Seals Greater Houston. This was their second class, and a total of 13 individuals with special needs attended, several of whom were in wheelchairs. The participants preferred sitting in chairs instead of the usual small bucket seats. To accommodate their needs, volunteers adjusted the height of the “drums” by stacking two buckets together and securing them with tape. They also brought several hand drums for individuals unable to hold drumsticks. The lesson began with practicing different sounds, followed by the stop sign game, the leader game, and playing the drums along with music. Everyone was engaged and enjoyed the session.
