On Saturday, August 3rd, from 1:00-4:00 PM, the Great Neck and Roslyn Branches of AYLUS volunteered for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County (CP Nassau) at a group home in Seaford. Today the volunteers did many fun activities with the residents, and everyone had a great time. First, we started by baking chocolate chip and cranberry cookies. The residents all enjoyed mixing and adding in the ingredients, and they enjoyed eating the cookies when they came out. After the cookies were baked, we did some arts and crafts. First, the residents made paper flower bouquets, which the residents loved. Some residents planned to keep them while others planned to use them as a gift. For our second craft, we decorated plates with designs of animal faces. They got to choose their favorite animals. For the third craft we made some animal portraits with foam stickers. Afterwards, we played a couple rounds of Bingo, where the residents had a lot of fun. Overall, volunteers and residents had a great time during the three hours, making it a great success.
