On the afternoon of August 1, 2024, volunteers conducted a bucket drumming session for teens with special needs at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugarland. Nine teens participated in the lesson. This was the final bucket drumming session for the teen class at the Sugarland location this summer. Since there were several first-time participants, the volunteers began with a quick review of the basic sounds of bucket drumming and counting beats. After practicing different sound combinations, they played along to a song. Next, the participants led the “Green, Yellow, and Red” game to practice rhythm and stopping. Later, they took turns leading a pattern while the others followed, with each participant having the opportunity to be the leader. Finally, they took the stage to perform a song while the volunteers accompanied them. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the bucket drumming activities. After the lesson, the volunteers handed out stretching books to all participants and took group photos with the class.
