On July 20th, AYLUS Houston proudly hosted its tenth SMILE Inclusive Playdate for special needs children. Held at the Katy Christian Community Church, the event featured a variety of fun activities, including coloring, balloon animals, ball games, puzzles, face painting, and temporary tattoos. These activities were carefully chosen to ensure that every child could participate and have an enjoyable time.
This playdate was significant as it provided a nurturing environment for special needs children to socialize, express their creativity, and engage in physical activities suited to their abilities. The inclusive nature of the event promoted understanding, acceptance, and the formation of new friendships among children of all abilities.
We are deeply thankful to Katy Christian Community Church for generously providing the space for this event. Their support was instrumental in making the playdate a success. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers, whose dedication and hard work made this day possible. Additionally, we are grateful for the opportunity to support and bring joy to children with special needs, and we remain committed to continuing this important work.
The smiles and laughter of the children were the best indicators of the playdate’s success, and we look forward to organizing more inclusive events in the future.
