Reported by Jessica Lu :
On July 24th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their local food bank.
Members checked in at the front office and then headed over to the fresh produce area to start work. They washed their hands and put on gloves before starting by sorting produce. For all the bad veggies/fruits, members put them in the farm box, which would be brought to a farm for the animals to eat. For the good produce, members sorted them into their own crates, which would go into food boxes later. After sorting, members started to make food boxes. They were in charge of the produce. To make things easier, members put all the produce in the bags so that it wouldn’t be scattered around in the food box. Some members worked outside, helping with carrying the food boxes onto the cars. When it was time to clean-up, members wiped down the tables and put everything back.
