The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Planting Field State Park

On July 20th, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Planting Field State Park to help remove invasive vines and weeds. The invasive species were stifling the growth of existing plants already there, and removing them made space for the plants to thrive and for new plants to grow there. Volunteers used various tools such as clippers and rakes to effectively remove the vines/weeds, as well as using their hands to pull them out.

The work was labor-intensive, but the volunteers were committed to making a tangible difference. They worked from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, putting in a solid block of time to help clean up the park and make it a more welcoming environment for native plants.

 

Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3 hrs), Simon Kong (2.5 hrs), Sunya Kong (2.5 hrs).
