On 7/13/24, Syosset AYLUS volunteers woke up bright and early to attend the CCE farmer’s market. The CCE farmer’s market is held at Eisenhower Park where small businesses come to share their products. From locally grown produce to handmade crochet goods, CCE never fails to provide with their programs. Furthermore, CCE has incorporated a CSA program (community supported agriculture) where citizens can help out farmers and also pick up fresh produce.
Volunteers arrived early in the morning to help set up the tents, tables, and the stands of other businesses. Despite a slow start to the morning due to the rain, students never failed to stay enthusiastic and welcome guests over. For the most part these members were given the task of managing the CCE stand. Students needed to keep track of the number of visitors, direct them in the right way, and answer any questions. Additionally, there was an activities center for younger visitors where fun worksheets were available. At the end of the session, all volunteers helped clean up the tents and wrap up another successful day at the farmers market.
Volunteers participated: Rachel Zhang (4 hrs), Aaron Wong (4 hrs), Margaret Zhang (4 hrs), and Nicole Zhang (4hrs).
