Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley #23– ABWK Senior Home Yard Works (7/19/2024)

Reported by Jessica Lu :

On July 19th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members did yard work for a home.
Members arrived early to start work so they could avoid the hot afternoon sun. They started off by using a weed wacker to weed out any weeds growing. Members spent a good chunk of time patiently taking out the weeds and putting them in a pile so they would be easier to clean up later. For weeds that were too big for the weed wacker, members would try to pull it out by hand. Since the backyard was covered in rocks/pebbles, members couldn’t get rid of all the weeds, but they tried their best. Members took a water break before starting to clean up. Members used a rake to rake up all the piles of weeds/dead grass before putting it in a dustbin and then dumping it in a trash bag. Then, members chatted with the homeowner and got to know each other better.
