Today on July 13, we went to Russell Creek Park to sell beverages and raise money to build libraries in Africa. This event required a lot of preparation work which was mainly making various drinks.
The drinks we provided were iced water, lemonade, Boba tea and shaved ice. We had members preparing lemonade and Boba tea beforehand. For the shaved ice, we bought some bagged ice before the event. We also brought some advertising boards with menu options and the prices. To make sure we were organized, we set up teams before the event so that different team members are in charge of different things.
Since we were at a park, there were a lot of teenagers there. Some of them wanted to purchase some cold drink on such a hot day. However, we quickly ran into a problem as they didn’t have any forms of payment other than Apple Pay while we only had cash and Zelle options. So during the event we managed to figure out how to get an Apple Pay to help us not just in this event, but also in the future to gain more customers and more donations. Overall this was a great experience and we will probably be doing more events like this in the summer to help the community enjoying the park activities more, while fundraising for Aylus Africa library project.
