On 7/12/24 AYLUS syosset members volunteered at Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary to help spread mulch around newly planted plants. Spreading mulch is very important as it controls weeds, the mulch suppress sunlight which makes it harder for weeds to germinate and spread. Mulch also helps regulate soil temperature and helps retain moisture in the soil. Members also spread mulch to stop the invasive species from growing.
Members who participate include (2hrs each): Jonathan Bao, Rita Bao, Darren Gao, Tyler Zhu, and Wangyang Ji.
