Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (57th) (7/12/2024)

Reported by Jessica Lu :

On July 12th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members volunteered at a food bank.
Members checked in at the front office before heading to the dry goods area. There, they packed applesauce into bags. 14 applesauce were put into each bag and after going through around 6 boxes of them, members packed more than 60 bags of applesauce. Then, they broke down boxes to reuse later on. The broken-down boxes were then organized into different sections and put away neatly. After a quick water break, members moved to the fresh produce area and cleaned the carts with disinfectant spray and a rag. Then they were taken to the front office to help staple paper bags. They were given a stack of paper and brown paper bags and members patiently stapled each paper onto each bag. After restocking on paper for the bags, members moved back to the fresh produce area to sort bread. Then, they cleaned off the tables with soapy water and rags before saying goodbye.
