AYLUS Syosset Members Planting at Long Island Native Plant Initiative 07/05/24

On 07/5/24, the Syosset members of AYLUS went to the Long Island Native Plant Initiative to go plant native plants and maintain plant diversity. Some of the steps we took were to make more soil, water and planting the Syosset parents were also very helpful in making this possible by helping out. We were accompanied by a new advisor named Mickey. She gave us tasks to do native plants. Some of the plants that we planted at the Long Island Native Plant Initiative was the Swamp Rose Mallow. This plant is used in medicine. They are demulcent and emollient and are used in the treatment of dysentery, lung ailments and urinary ailments and they have even more benefits to them. These plants that we planted helped maintain biodiversity and could be used for future medicine cases. Overall, the team of AYLUS members were very successful with the help of parents in planting native plants.
