On July 2nd, 2024, AYLUS San Clemente Branch Two members, Jasmine and Kevin volunteered at FAM food pantry from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The supervisor was Dean, Jasmine’s dad. Jasmine and Kevin stacked empty crates and dumped out expired milk for the first half hour before being given separate tasks. Kevin was told to sweep up any trash he saw in the warehouse; Jasmine was to sort and organize bouquets of flowers into ‘wilted’ and ‘decent’ piles—decent flowers were placed into water-filled buckets and wilted flowers were thrown into the nearby compost bin. This lasted for about another half hour. Kevin and Dean then worked together to carry two to three pallets into a corner and stack them while Jasmine returned three empty food carts to their original places stored at the back of the warehouse. As Dean and Kevin worked on migrating bags of food from a big cardboard box to a refrigerator, Jasmine set on small tasks such as placing unneeded cardboard boxes onto storage shelves, taking unneeded buckets to a storage closet, sweeping up a pile of spilled flower petals and wiping up a container of spilled milk off the floor.
Members who volunteered were Jasmine Zheng ( 2hrs ) and Kevin Zhou ( 2hrs ).
Parent Supervisor: Dean Zheng
