Slam n Splash (#122): Pearland Branch Community Tennis Class (#61) June 20, 2024

On the evening of June 20, 2024, AYLUS members Alexander Sun, William Sun, Derek Zhu,
and Wyatt Yin orchestrated a community tennis clinic at Dawson High School for local children.
The gathering aimed to introduce youngsters to the basics of tennis while nurturing a sense of
communal responsibility.

During the session, the kids received instruction on serving, volleying, and footwork from
coaches. These mentors provided hands-on guidance throughout the event, ensuring each child
grasped the fundamental skills.

More than just learning tennis techniques, the session emphasized values like sportsmanship and
teamwork. Coaches encouraged participants to support one another, fostering a supportive
environment where kids could grow not only as athletes but also as community members.
Beyond physical skills, the event promoted active living, new friendships, and a deeper
understanding of community engagement. AYLUS showcased its dedication to youth
development and community service through this initiative.

Overall, the children departed the training session with enhanced tennis abilities, a heightened
sense of sportsmanship, and a newfound appreciation for the rewards of being involved in their
community.
