Dance and Art: Pearland Branch Community Art Class (#17) on June 8, 2024

On June 8th, three dedicated members of AYLUS Pearland held a successful summer art
lesson session as they strived to nurture young artistic talent (ranging from ages 3-13) within the
Pearland community. The first class was dedicated to teaching the basics of sketching, which
they taught through an interactive PowerPoint and worksheet activity; students then practiced
these newly learned skills.

After the instructional lesson, the class took a well-deserved break. Chips and drinks were
provided, giving the children a chance to socialize and discuss their artwork with their peers.
Then, the second half of the class resumed with a whole-class tutorial. A reference picture was
projected for everyone to see, and the instructors led the children step-by-step through the
sketching and coloring process. This hands-on approach helped the students apply the
concepts they learned earlier in the session.

The session was met with great enthusiasm. All participants expressed happiness with the day's
activities, and many of the children chose to stay after the official end of the class to continue
working on their sketches. This extended participation is a testament to the engaging and
supportive environment fostered by the AYLUS Pearland members.

Overall, the first session of our summer art lessons was a resounding success!!
