The AYLUS Metro Detroit Branch participated in the yearly Walk & Run For Nature 5K run event, hosted by the Stage Nature Center in Troy, Michigan. Every year, the 5K is organized to bring awareness to the various classes made by the Nature Center. These classes are an attempt to educate the public about nature, and the best practices to protect it. The event has both a 5K run and walk, as well as a 2K walk. People ranging from 5 years old to 70 years old come to participate in the event. The Branch helped out in the event by manning the water station, refilling cups with water to hydrate the runners and walkers.
Every year it is always a treat to volunteer at this event. Not only is it a blast to see the immense amount of runners there are in the event, but it is also great to connect with everyone who came to the event, and why they came. Husbands, cheer on their spouses, grandparents celebrate with their grown up sons/daughters, and parents watch their kids as they take the first step across the grass.
