March and April 2024 East Cobb Branch Contributed to the Missing Maps Project

In the months of March and April 2024, members of the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS contributed to the Missing Maps project.

Missing Maps is an online project in which members use the HOT (Humanitarian OSM Team) Tasking Manager to create maps for OpenStreetMap. The members are shown a satellite image from Bing and must trace the image’s buildings and streets, adding to the map. The map data is relayed onto thousands of websites, apps, and hardware devices as a GPS so that it can be used by people like first responders. This is especially important because parts of the world that are vulnerable to natural disasters and conflicts may receive help through the map.
