AYLUS Rancho Cucamonga Branch Volunteers at Mission Village Senior on 04/20/2024
On April 20, 2024, three members of the AYLUS RC BRANCH participated in the Food Distribution event held at Mission Village Senior Apartments. This event takes place monthly and is organized to provide nutritious food to senior residents. Partnering with Feeding America, we bring pallets of food to seniors every month, aiming to involve more volunteers in this meaningful initiative. Volunteers assist in unloading food pallets, counting inventory, and setting up tables for food items on the day of food drop-off. On distribution day, volunteers ensure residents sign in, oversee the distribution process to ensure fairness, and assist residents in loading food items into wagons or bags.
Our tasks for the day included retrieving food from the warehouse, sorting it by category, and preparing portions based on the number of recipients. As it was a weekend, many people attended the event, keeping us busy throughout the five-hour duration. Volunteering at the senior center is a cherished activity for us, as we receive warm welcomes from the elderly residents. Through our diligent efforts, we aim to enhance their senior living experience, making it more fulfilling and meaningful for them.
The list of members who participated in today’s event, each contributing five hours of service, is as follows:
Yongxi Hu; Jiayi Bai; Haohua Feng
Overall, our involvement in the Food Distribution event at Mission Village Senior Center not only benefited the senior residents but also provided us with a sense of fulfillment and purpose in serving our community.
