AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at Ed White Elementary School as tutors.
At Ed White Elementary School, our tutoring program targeted 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students, primarily in the subject of math. We offered personalized assistance by guiding students through assigned worksheets and engaging activities, addressing their questions and requests for assistance. Despite encountering challenges such as supporting bilingual students and introducing unfamiliar concepts, our efforts significantly lightened the workload for teachers and enabled students to enhance their comprehension. By cultivating an environment of curiosity and academic growth, we not only supported students’ learning journeys but also refined our own teaching techniques and communication abilities as volunteers.
Volunteer time: Saturday, April 13th, 2024. 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, 3 hours.
