On April 14th, we were very happy to once again have the opportunity to volunteer in Steppingstone park. Located in our local community — and having a great view of the Long Island Sound, large playground, and indoor play center — it’s a favorite for many Great Neck families.
We had 19 volunteers who – despite facing rain – were energetic and ready to go. Together, we worked on two fields: digging out weeds and preparing the soil for a new batch of grass. After that, we moved on to working on smaller trees that we couldn’t get to last time. We weeded and raked away the old, now-uneffective layer of mulch to make way for a new one. With the hard work of the volunteers, the trees look better and the fields are now ready to be, once again, filled with new grass. It was a grueling task, but we still stayed during the rain and after the sun came out again.
Through our undertaking of this task, we have shown our commitment to bettering our environment and town, making our neighborhood park and our community a place that we could proudly call our own.
