The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered to gather and recycle plastic bottles and empty cans, in order to help reduce environmental pollution caused from this kind of litter. For weeks beforehand, volunteers gathered and held on to used plastic bottles and soda cans in preparation for this event. It’s quite important to recycle these items, as in regular landfills they take quite a long time to decompose, proving harmful to the environment there years later. Volunteers travelled to the Costco recycling station and ended up recycling over 200 bottles and cans in total.
