On Sunday, March 17th, from 11:30am to 3:30pm, the Aylus Roslyn Branch volunteered to collect petition signatures to promote the democratic process in Jamaica, Queens. We went from door to door to collect signatures from residents. Although, we had to go to many houses and many people did not open their doors, we persevered through and completed the collection of signatures throughout the community.
By volunteering, the most important thing we learned is to not be afraid and it is okay to be turned away by people. If we continue to be patient, friendly, and polite, we believe we will make tangible difference in the
future. It was a meaningful day for us to be able to take part in this public service.
