The AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Books For Development on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Books for Development is a non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas that aims to increase literacy around the world, especially in underserved, developing, English-speaking countries. Books are often taken for granted, Books for Development ships donated books to countries with a literacy famine.
Volunteers sorted donated books into categories. While volunteers sorted, they also considered the conditions of the book, ensuring that the books were in good condition before being shipped abroad. Volunteers also boxed books by category, diligently packing boxes to the brim to ensure sturdiness during shipping.
