Murrieta AYLUS Helps STAT Horse Sanctuary (23rd) (3/16/2024)

Reported by Hsin Chen (Julie)  Lu:

On March 16th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their local animal sanctuary. After greeting the dogs and kittens with pets, the members got to work, rolling a wheelbarrow with shovels and rakes to the goat pen on the side. Each member had their own task—two people raked up piles of excreta, dirty hay, and old gold pellets and one person scooped them into the wheelbarrow. When the wheelbarrow was full, they took it out into the field to be disposed of. These piles of waste would be sold to a vineyard to be used as fertilizer, and the money can then be put back into buying food and supplies for the many animals on the sanctuary. When the members finished with the side pen, they moved to the main pen. As this pen was bigger, it took them multiple trips to the field and back before they completed their task. Before leaving, the members played with the Great Danes at the resting area.
