Missouri City Branch Ryan Tang with other volunteers hosted Japan Table to support Commonwealth Elementary School Cultural Festival on March 7, 2024.
Ryan introduced Japanese culture to the audience, and taught 20+ kids how to fold Japanese paper art origami. Before the Festival Day, Ryan made many complex origami arts including dragons and Monkey Kings for display and showcase the sophistication of origami. It’s a good opportunity for western kids to know about East Asia and raise their awareness of cultural diversity.
The total volunteer hour is 5 hours, including 2-hour preparing the display board/exhibition, and 3-hour hosting the table (4pm-7pm).
