RCA Members got together for a balloon twisting event on February 25, 2024. After thinking about the possibility of the different types of activities that the branch was planning on hosting, it was decided that ballon twisting would be a great way to raise awareness of AYLUS within the community while providing cheer and laughter to the local children, some of them had been stuck at home for days due to the rain Southern California had experienced during the last few weeks.
The group got to work by purchasing the kits. The next step was to watch Youtube tutorials while practicing how to handle the delicate balloons and twist them right without popping them. The members then got together and started creating dogs, swords and even a bow and arrow out of the balloons. The event was advertised locally on social media. Soon thereafter parents and kids came flocking by asking for the balloon creations.
The event was met with likes and hearts on the social media post.
In all, the event was a success. It was great to see how the community was able to get together to celebrate the wellbeing of the children with a simple thing as a balloon creation.
