On Saturday, February 10th, 2024, members from the AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch went to pick up books from their local CV. When they went to pick up the books, it was warmer than most days during the winter.
Our members go to CVS every two weeks. Amy, the store manager, is very nice to us. Last week, someone asked Amy if they could take a book because they thought that the books were free and that people could take a few books whenever they want. Amy explained to them that the books were there for our AYLUS branch and that they were going to be donated to Africa. She also explained that AYLUS stands for Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States and is a student run non-profit organization. Amy was very happy to see us help our community instead of staying at home playing games.
Our members were surprised that some people donated brand new books. We didn’t know that people were that supportive. We’d like to thank everyone who donated to help our cause. We’d also like to thank Amy Algo for supporting us in our goal, as every little book brings us closer to our goal.
