AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at Ed White Elementary School as tutors.
Here at Ed White Elementary School, the volunteers focused on tutoring the kids on math and reading. Our goal is to help kids achieve their academic goals by providing help and support on academic practices such as writing, reading comprehension, released test questions, and complex math calculations. We also tried our best to overcome some difficulties, for example, working with ESL students. At the same time helping students, we are also practicing our communication skills by using simple terms to explain complex concepts to students. In the end, students are more encouraged to ask questions and manage to expand from their prior knowledge.
Volunteer time: Saturday, February 3, 2024, 9 am to 12 am, 3 hours.
