On December 21st, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members helped their local food bank.
Members signed in before starting to help with the food boxes. They would put a package of meat in each box, along with some sides, fruits/veggies, one breakfast bread, one sliced bread, one roll, and two desserts. Members were careful when putting in the fruits and veggies, ensuring none were rotten or smushed. Each cart had 6 food boxes on it. Members made around 9 carts or 54 food boxes. After, members went to go sort the fruits and vegetables. They would throw away the rotten or smushed fruit in a box, which would go to a pig farm. The good fruits would go in their own buckets. Members took a quick water break after they finished 3 boxes of that. Then, they went to the other side of the food bank to help sort dry foods. Members would use bags to gather as much food as they could, and then put it in their category crates. They did that for the rest of the time there. Members loved being back at the food bank and seeing so many familiar faces and they hope to do it more often!
