AYLUS Bergen Branch went to Goshen, NY on Saturday 12/9 to help out a local Chinese Association with gardening work.
The Chinese Association had recently constructed a church on a large plot of land in rural Goshen. Several hiking trails run throughout the property but have become overgrown with weeds over the years. The Association hoped to clear the trails so its members can use them.
We used weedwackers, shears, leaf blowers, and other gardening tools to clear out about 150 feet of trail. We also scoped out the rest of the property to see what other trails needed clearing.
We greatly valued the physical exercise of working from 9 AM to 2 PM as well as the satisfaction of improving this community space. More weedwacking needs to be done before the trails are completely cleared, so we plan to return sometime soon and continue what we have started.
