On 11/19/23, from 12:30 to 2:30, members of AYLUS Syosset donated and sorted books at Syosset Woodbury Park. The collected books were sorted by difficulty from books meant for adults to those meant for children learning how to read, from nonfiction to fiction, whether in English or some other language, to the best of our ability in an organized manner. They will be donated to an organization called Book Fairies.
Book Fairies sources and redistributes books to under-resourced communities on Long Island, NYC and internationally to provide equitable opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive. Book Fairies began in 2012 with the goal of fostering the love of reading in children and has grown to be the largest book donation organization in the Tri-State area as they gather new and gently used books and place them into the hands of eager children living in under-resourced areas across Long Island, New York City, and internationally.
