From November 11-14, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch participated in the CP Nassau clothing drive to help them raise funds for adult programs.
The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County provides quality service to both children and adults with disabilities and aims to help them better their lives and aid them in reaching their highest level of independence. As children have always been of utmost importance in our society, it’s often prioritized. CP Nassau adult programs have not been funded as much as the children’s programs are, and through this clothing drive, we hope to change that.
On the weekends of November 11-12, Roslyn members foraged their wardrobes, closets, and dressers for clothes to donate. We also collected clothes from neighbors, friends, and relatives to maximize the allotted clothes. Our collective team effort attained about 50 bags of clothes in total. Together, we packaged, labeled, and loaded them into two cars where it was dropped off at the designated location for collection on November 14. From there on, the clothes would be sold by the pound to fund CP Nassau adult programs.
By participating in this event, Roslyn members learned to understand and respect the struggles of individuals around us and hope to spread love and awareness. In the future, AYLUS Roslyn will strive to help more people in need.
