On November 5th 2023, we hosted a community balloon making workshop and competition at the GEM multicultural center. We taught the kids to make more simple balloons like a dog before moving on to harder balloons. During teaching, we found many kids had their own skill levels and some would advance significantly faster than others. Due to this we split up to have one of us teaching the kids struggling one on one while the others continued to teach the others new balloons and skills. All the kids learned how to make various balloons like dogs, flowers, snakes, swords, and butterflies. The kids then had a chance to create their own balloons, with their own twists added and with less assistance from us. News of this event reached so far, partially due to a delay in scheduling, that one family drove 1.5 hours to get here! The kids were very entertained throughout and we had few issues working with them. In the end our volunteers learned to make new balloons with the kids and the event turned out to be very enjoyable! This event promoted the AYLUS Frisco & Plano brand and fostering community engagement.
