On Saturday, October 28th, 6 members of the AYLUS San Clemente Branch volunteered at the 3rd Annual Halloween Costume Dance Concert at the Pavilion in Rancho Mission Viejo. This time, they had a new member, Alexa Leitner, joining them! The members arrived at 5pm to help set up the registration station, photo ops, and the giant balloon entryway. This event was hosted by the RMV Family Fun Club and more than 700 residents attended the event. At 6pm, one of the organizers, Peter Dang, had two of our members, King and Edward, sit at the wristband station to check in all of the participants and give them their wristbands. Another one of our members, Jasmine, was sitting at the entrance to the auditorium where the dance was being held to make sure that the people entering had their wristbands on and was therefore permitted access to the dance. Meanwhile, Alexa was inside the auditorium guarding the speakers and band equipment that the band was using later that night. The final 2 members, Claire and Elena, were asked to guard the two side doors, to make sure that people were not accidentally entering from those doors and were instead entering from the main entrance. By the time it was 8:00pm, more than 500 people had already checked in out of the 700. Our members also took part in other acts of service such as taking photos for families under the giant balloons and helping people locate places inside the Pavilion. After the dance had ended, the members assisted in deflating the balloons and putting away the various equipment. The organizers sincerely expressed their gratitude for our members, saying that without their help, a lot could not have been done that night! Our members were also very open about volunteering at the next annual Halloween Costume Dance Concert, as they all expressed how much fun they had and how much they enjoyed the atmosphere at the dance! They cannot wait to get back out next year for more spooky spectacular events!
