Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Senior Centers ( 32nd) ( 10/29/2023)

Reported by Jessica Lu
On October 29th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members went to help out at their local senior center – Atria Living Center.
Members separated and went to the ice cream parlor and the library to set up the piano. At the ice cream parlor, members served seniors happily and talked with them while serving. Members made sure to keep the station clean and free of messes. In the library, members were playing live piano music for the seniors who enjoyed it very much. Members altered between classical, upbeat modern, and contemporary pieces. Members enjoyed their visit and will be sure to come back next week.

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On Sunday, October 29, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to local senior centers.
At Torrey Pines Senior Living: The volunteers started with passing out weights, having the residents do rounds of reps and stretching out their limbs. Collecting the weights, the residents then exercised their legs, before patting out their muscles. The volunteers then tossed a ball around to help the residents’ hand-eye coordination, until the residents grew tired. Then, the volunteers prepared a small snack of cheese and crackers and poured juice for the residents. During the snack, a few performers arrived, and the residents were taken outside to enjoy the music. Afterwards, they were all taken to the dining room for lunch.
