The All of Us Research Program is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. They welcome participants from all backgrounds. Researchers will use the data to learn how our biology, lifestyle, and environment affect health. This may one day help them find ways to treat and prevent disease.
On the evening of October 20, 2023, AYLUS members gathered at Lexington County’s Spectacular Bid Park to promote the All of Us medical research program and fundraise for local children and communities in need. Many people visited the park to participate in the first day of Lexington County’s two-day Garba event, and AYLUS offered free cotton candy or a balloon animal as incentives to get more people to sign up. This led to there being great success in collecting sign-ups because, in total, more than 200 people signed up. In addition to collecting sign-ups at the event, AYLUS members also sold bracelets, rings, and headbands to help fundraise for the kids with cancer at Plano Children’s Medical Center, allowing the AYLUS Frisco & Plano branch to get closer to their final goal for children in need. Overall, this event was a resounding success with a multitude of sign-ups collected and more money raised while also raising awareness about the All of Us program and bringing children and youth more happiness. Special thanks to Ashita Nori and Varnit Khare for helping AYLUS with this event.
