Murrieta AYLUS Helps at the Purple and White Alzheimer’s Gala (9/13/2023)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

Wearing purple and white, the volunteers began with helping the residents get settled. They cleaned around the floor areas where there was a few crumbs of snacks, and spoke with the residents. They gathered some of the jars and bowls that would be needed for the dinner, filling up pitchers and running errands. After the gala went underway, the volunteers began serving drinks while the kitchen cooked the meal. They first served lobster bisque in bowls, helping the guests get cutlery and different cups for their wine, water, or juice. The bowls were cleared when the guests finished, and the main course was served soon after. Some guests got up to be served, while the volunteers helped some of the residents who couldn’t walk get their orders. Prime rib, salmon, baked potatoes, carrots, and asparagus were served, and the guests all enjoyed the meal alongside some live music. Lastly, dessert was served, and volunteers helped some of the guests get coffee. As the guests nursed their dessert, the auction began for artwork the residents of the senior center had made, all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association. As the guests began to clear out, the volunteers helped fold and store the chairs, fold the tablecloths, clear the decorations, and roll up the tables.
