On July 19, 2023, AYLUS San Diego Branch volunteered at Mira Mesa Senior Food Distribution sponsored by San Diego Food Bank.
Each month, rain or shine, approximately 780 low-income seniors attend the Food Bank’s Senior “CSFP” Food Distribution hosted outside the Mira Mesa Senior Center. Many of them fragile, in vulnerable stages and requiring help from others to walk and load their food into their car. While others just want someone to talk or bring a smile to their face. Help make a difference by helping bring care and compassion to our senior citizens.
Since its establishment in 1977, the San Diego Food Bank is on a mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue.
The San Diego Food Bank provides meals every year to children, families, seniors, college students, military families, veterans, people facing homelessness, and other underserved populations. They distribute meals in partnership with local charities, schools, faith communities, meal sites, and food pantries throughout the region.
AYLUS San Diego Branch set up the recurring volunteer events at the San Diego Food Bank and volunteer students spent 5 hours each time distributing foods to the seniors.
The following volunteers participated 07/19/2023 event, 5.0 hours for each:
Emily Zhu, Emmy Zhu, & Eric Li.
