On July 17th, The East Pittsburgh Aylus branch went to support our local community by helping the Westmoreland Food Bank make boxes to store essential food items. The goal of the volunteering event was to ensure that vulnerable individuals and families facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals during challenging times. As volunteers, our primary responsibility was to make boxes that would be used later on to pack food. We divided ourselves each with different roles for example, one person unfolds the boxes and and holds it while another person tapes the bottom shut while the 3rd person stacks the boxes. by using this method, in total we made about 500 boxes. By providing these boxes, we were confident that we would be making a tangible difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity.
