Undies for Everyone is a volunteer organization in Houston, TX that provides new underwear for over 200,000 U.S. children living in poverty or crisis. Clean underwear is an easily overlooked essential that can offer immediate physical and emotional relief. By working to ensure that all children have access to the daily dignity of clean underwear, UFE promotes the conditions for success every child deserves – from basic hygiene and better graduation rates to brighter outlooks about themselves and the world around them.
Volunteers on Saturday helped through the Hometown Help program which delivers 7-day supplies of new underwear to children through UFE’s trusted partners, ranging from Child Protective Services to Community Closets.
From 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, volunteers sorted, packed, and stickered pairs of undies into plastic bags which were packaged and loaded for delivery later in the day. The warehouse employees instructed volunteers on how to fold and roll up underwear and the procedure for packing the undies to ensure uniform and consistent distribution.
Most volunteers folded and packed pairs of undies at work tables while a few others were in charge of restocking and loading packaged undies along shelves in the warehouse.
