On Wednesday, November 9th, members of the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch and the UNC Lung Cancer club members went to UNC Hospital together to donate our handmade cancer care kits for the patients. Lung cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, there have been about 236,740 new cases of lung cancer and 130,180 deaths in 2022. There are numerous symptoms that victims suffer through, such as fatigue, loss of appetite, dyspnea, cough, pain, and blood in sputum. This sickness has impacted not only their daily lives but could also affect their mental state. We hope that our gifts of kindness and encouragement will bring some happiness to patients undergoing difficult situations.
The volunteers who participated in this event are: Kevin Chen (1 hour), Luna Chen (1 hour), Nicholas Wang (2 hours), and UNC lung cancer club members.
