For nearly half a century, the Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival has welcomed guests from far and wide to downtown Cary, North Carolina for two days filled with art, entertainment, food and memories. An event concept dating back to 1977, this jury craft show celebrates the “lazy daze” of summer and takes place the last weekend in August, bringing together nearly 300 artists from 16 U.S. states to showcase their beer gardens, numerous interactive art Featuring events, a children’s world area and demonstrations by professional artisans, Lazy Daze remains the nation’s top contemporary craft festival.
The task of the volunteers today is to be the artist’s booth nanny, and the booth nanny is responsible for letting the artist sit and rest at their booth. Booth sitter must be able to walk comfortably throughout the festival layout, stand for long periods of time and be directly exposed to the weather. Booth sitter must carry a personal cell phone and be willing to accept text messages throughout the shift. Although the weather was very hot today, the volunteers were very enthusiastic and kept going between the booths to help the artists receive customers and take care of the booths. Allowing the artists to rest, today each volunteer took care of an average of 6 booths. Today, 3 volunteers served the artists in 18 booths.
