Columbus Branch Donated Record 118 Placemats to Meals on Wheels on August 2, 2022
Throughout the summer, members of AYLUS Columbus created an impressive 118 handmade placemats for the local Meals on Wheels program — the largest number made in a single round so far! The mats were delivered to the Dublin Service Center on August 2nd to be distributed to Meals on Wheels recipients around the community. Meals on Wheels deliveries help those who are 60 years of age or older and otherwise unable to receive in-person meals. This program has become of even greater importance during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as older residents, especially those who are further immunocompromised, have higher risks of both infection and severity. For this round of placemats, volunteers were asked to incorporate themes of summer. Due to camps, vacations, and other commitments, the time for this round of placemats was extended and the placemat limit per volunteer was raised from four to eight. Volunteers did an incredible job with their mats despite committing to much larger amounts than usual and showcased a variety of creative and colorful ideas.
