The Sugar Land Branch launched a debate club in Spring 2020. This club, founded and led by Andrew Lian, focuses on helping elementary school students develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, persuasion, and communication.
On Feb 20th, we introduced the two type of extemps which was domestic and international topics. Then after getting the members to get familiar to each type, we split them off into pairs of which type of extemp they chose. Then, we gave each person 30 minutes every person in to prepare for the topics and one representative were chosen to present their speech. Afterwards criticism was given.
