The Sugar Land Branch launched a debate club in Spring 2020. This club, founded and led by Andrew Lian, focuses on helping elementary school students develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, persuasion, and communication.
On Feb 13th, we were joined by another new member. After reviewing last week’s material about extemp, the coach gave each student an assignment to review and present the topic. After 10 minutes of preparation, each student presented their viewpoints on the topic. When everyone finished, the coach gave students tips to improve their public speaking skills and preparation so they could do even better in the future.
