The Sugar Land Branch launched a debate club in Spring 2020. This club, founded and led by Andrew Lian, focuses on helping elementary school students develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, persuasion, and communication.
We kicked off our debate club this semester on Feb 4th as there’s no school due to inclement weather. We introduced Extemp as another form of debate and held a practice. The coach reviewed the arguments with the students. Our new topic “if we should allow all pets into schools”. We also welcomed three new members, Longlong, Zach and Max to the club!
