The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 20th Solutions for Hope Activity on October 18, 2021.
Solution for hope Beast Academy is a mathematics tutoring program for elementary and middle school students led by highly qualified high school volunteers. Currently at the San Diego Branch, enough students have signed up for this course for it to be offered in four levels: 2, 3, 4 and 5. Through tutoring sessions hosted virtually over Zoom, our volunteers teach students informative mathematical concepts that help to bolster problem-solving skills and improve their mathematical knowledge.
Wordly Wise 3000, abbreviated WW3000, is an English language tutoring program for elementary and middle school students led by highly qualified high school volunteers. Currently at San Diego Branch, enough students have signed up for this course for it offered in five levels: Level 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Through the tutoring sessions hosted virtually through zoom, our volunteers provide the students with direct academic vocabulary instructions that develops the critical link between vocabulary and reading comprehension.
The distinguishing factor of this activity is that in these programs, all participants are in this for a great cause. All proceeds from the tutoring sessions will go to support underprivileged kids in local communities, helping them to better cope with the ongoing pandemic. Up to this date, we have raised a total of more than $10,000 dollars, with fundraising still in progress. Through this activity, our volunteers strive to create a positive impact on the world using their own abilities; with their hard work and support, we all see the light at the end of tunnel.
